Warming up

Its getting colder outside, people are getting sick ah choo! and thus I am sharing this very very warm and inviting picture. I have a pleasure to see those flowers almost every day – one of courtyeards near my place is full of them, and they still look good. Another busy day left behind, another day before I go for va-ca-ti-on. Oh, I love the sound of this word 🙂

Take care, don’t get sick, and thanks for stopping by!

Streets, streets, streets

Ah, Mr. Joe Hisaishi. Lovely piano. Many, many pictures done lately. Another batch from the same walk along the spree and on the Oberbaumbrücke. I didn’t have so much street material for a while, probably, ever. And that makes me feel good. Hope you are enjoying that too.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Along the Spree

Finally at home, relaxed on a sofa, with a cup of “halswärmer yogitee” (cool stuff, btw, a bit sweet-ish though). It was a very long day today with all sorts of activities: sports, movies, board games, exhibitions and photography. I love this pace, really. It’s a little tiring, but then you have a pleasant feeling that time was well spent. As it is already late, I just share some new pics, set aside the comments. This batch is now two weekends old, walking along river Spree from Treptower Park towards Oberbaumbrücke.  Enjoy!

View towards Alexanderplatz from Oberbaumbrücke.

And some more excited fellow photographers in color:

"Go, baby, go!"

"Hey, who's there!"

"That thing there. It took 5 minutes to expose"

On Content

Social networks have transformed in the last couple of years. Previously, people were into posting statuses, sharing their pictures, possibly music etc. etc. Nowadays, much of the content I see in my social network feed are retweets/reposts. So, from generating content behaviours have changed to sharing content which someone else have previously written.

That doesn’t sound so bad, does it? But consider now that more than half of the material is comprised of advertisement and viral images which usually don’t bring any value (e.g. knowledge). So instead of giving people a platform to share their content, social networks are giving people a “food” for sharing. And there’s always enough of that “food” to satisfy greatest appetites. What it means is that in turn less content is produced by people themselves.

I didn’t actually want to blame anybody, it’s not someone’s fault, and it will probably transform into something different during next two of years, as network landscape changes rapidly. I wanted to give my gratitude to everybody who strives to generate content regularly, regardless of what is popular, trending or viral. Cheers to all of you, you are fantastic!

Among my favorites, a few blogs worth of looking into:

  • yoki.de – a nice (and fresh) blog by Jens.
  • gentle-witch – a blog of colleague and friend of mine, Zhenya (in russian).
  • shoottokyo – blog about cones:) Tokyo, life in Tokyo, streets in Tokyo
  • uno-dsm – some very cool pictures from a fellow photographer Kseniya (in russian).

As a picture, one of my top-favorites from 2009 with beautiful Tanya. Stay tuned, I have quite some new ones, and I will share them soon!

Anime

Really, I forgot how much I loved it. Haibane Renmei, watching them together with my friends in Russia all at once, Byousoku 5 Centimeter – a masterpiece of light and color, Tonari no Totoro – a wonderful and very kind movie, Trigun – the first one I watched. How could I forget? More than that, during the time that I was not following the subject, my favourite animators created more brilliant films: Kaze Tachinu – a story of Jiro Horikoshi and A6M Zero, Kotonoha no Niwa – a story of making steps (now, seriously, Mr. Shinkai, how do you always come up with something so close to me, at the time it matters most?! Big thanks to you for that anyway). And I am sure there are many many more… I would need some time to catch up with them! But creations of Studio Ghibli take priority 🙂 4 movies are already off the list, need to watch some 16 more, before November. How do you think, is that possible?

Anyway, it’s time to go to bed. But I am in the mood for a warm and happy picture, so I found one. And with that I wish you a nice Thursday and a good night!

Getting Warm

Autumn slowly takes over from summer. It’s getting colder now, more windy, more rainy – pretty much how it should get towards the end of September. Somehow getting a cup of hot coffee in the morning gets much more pleasant. So now, cup of coffee and few pictures from the late summer, to get a bit warmer.

Thanks for stopping by.

Cozy

Laputa – Castle in the Sky

Watched it again, after years now, five maybe. Miyazaki is amazing. And I am more and more happy about having ticket to Ghibli Museum. I wouldn’t like to be outside now – it’s a nice thunderstorm out there, one of that kind when you really really glad to be at home. I wanted to share a post in Russian today but somehow the day was so busy that I didn’t manage to finish it. So maybe tomorrow, if it’s not too outdated. Anyway, good night everyone.

TGIF

My sensei tought me that abbreviation 🙂 Thank God it’s Friday it means. Ain’t it nice? Indeed Friday it is. And in front of me lies still a day full of interesting and challenging work, and probably a nice Friday evening, you never know what happens.

For weeks now I have a feeling that I have to rearrange something in my home: sell or throw away certain things, buy some new, and improve some existing ones. For example, I want to kick those wheels out of under my SKRUVSTA chair. Bad news are that I didn’t find necessary “plastic legs” in IKEA catalog, will have to go there in person.  Main challenge would be then not to buy something that looks reaaally good but something I don’t need at all:)

Also, I’m slowly thinking of what should I put to my list when travelling to Japan.. That’d be my fist long-way trip so I could miss somthing. What do you usually miss/forget when travelling? Let me learn from somebody else’s mistakes and make my own anyway😉

By the way, in the picture it’s view of my house’s courtyard now. Somebody nice scattered (on purpose?) some colorful balls all over the place 🙂 And it looks very cheerful to me 🙂
